Silver Jubilee Celebration of Sr. Clare Marie

On Saturday, October 23rd, a beautiful, sunny day, our Sr. Clare Marie Rohutny celebrated her Silver Jubilee in Racine, Wisconsin, USA.

She herself writes:I was so excited to celebrate this day. It was the culmination of my 25 years as an Augustinian Sister of Rita.

The former pastor of St. Rita here in Racine, Fr. Kevin Mullins, OSA had come from Chicago to celebrate Mass. With him celebrated Fr. Joseph Hornacek, a friend of our family, and Fr. Thomas DeVries, a friend of the fellowship. Br. Brian Holbus and Br. Stephen Lampe, both longtime friends of our fellowship, made the music.

When I went to the altar to renew my vows, I carried the jubilee candle that Sr. Julietta had designed for me and then placed it on the altar. Sr. Rita-Maria, our Superior General, received the confirmation of my profession.

In his homily, Fr. Kevin referred to the readings and linked them to the deepest longings of our hearts: love for God and unity with all creation.

After the service, there was a delicious lunch of roulades, German salads, and cakes baked from our late Sr. Amalia's recipe by Carol, a former staff member at the St Monica Nursing Home.

I have always loved eating this cake. All guests were satisfied, and no one went home hungry.

I am very honored and blessed to be a Rita Sister and thank God and all the Sisters.
