"Give Thanks and Remember!”
This was the theme for the 70th anniversary of our presence and service in Racine.
On June 26, 1942, three sisters, Sr. Helene Wenzel, Sr. Amalia Weis and Sr. Dominika Kuhn, arrived in Racine. All three of them had been missionaries in Bolivia from 1935 to 1939. In 1939 they arrived in New Hamburg, New York, at the Augustinian men’s Novitiate and helped with domestic work. When the German Augustinian Fathers and Brothers built a new parish in Racine, they were asked to move to Racine to help with domestic work.
